Sale of Bowling Green Hot Rods Approved

Bowling Green Hot Rods 2016

The sale of the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Low A; Midwest League) has been approved, allowing Jack Blackstock to purchase the club from Jerry Katzoff

Reports over the summer indicated that Blackstock was working on a purchase of the team from Katzoff. A New York-based businessman, Blackstock has ties to Bowling Green, KY and had been a minority investor in the Hot Rods for the past several years.

The sale had been pending formal approval from MiLB and MLB, but it was revealed earlier this week that MLB had not objected to the sale. The transaction is expected to close next week. More from the Bowling Green Daily News:

It was also announced at Tuesday’s meeting that Major League Baseball has formally approved the sale of the Hot Rods from one New York-based businessman to another.

Jack Blackstock, a minority owner in the team, is purchasing the franchise from Jerry Katzoff, with a closing date on the deal slated for next week.

The change in ownership is not the only significant development of late for the Hot Rods, as the team will also receive a new playing surface at Bowling Green Ballpark next season. The Warren County Economic Development Authority, the authority tasked with overseeing the ballpark, has approved a $260,000 bid for a total playing surface replacement.
