Fayetteville Team Colors: Black, Gray, and Red

An announcement on the team’s branding awaits, but black, gray, and red have been revealed as the colors of the upcoming Fayetteville Carolina League club.

At the start of the 2019 season, the current Buies Creek Astros will move into their permanent home–a new, $37.8-million downtown Fayetteville ballpark that is being billed as the anchor of a larger development plan. The team will change its name to coincide with the opening of the new ballpark, but the full rebranding announcement is not scheduled to take place until August.

One key detail that was recently revealed, however, is the team’s new color scheme. As confirmed by Fayetteville and team officials on Tuesday, the club’s colors will be black, gray, and red. More from The Fayetteville Observer:

Black, gray and red will be the colors of Fayetteville’s Minor League baseball team, and at the request of the Houston Astros, Fayetteville’s baseball stadium will be decorated to match, Deputy City Manager Kristoff Bauer said at a meeting of the city’s Baseball Committee on Tuesday.

The Houston Astros Major League organization (whose colors are navy blue, orange and white) plans to bring the team to Fayetteville for the 2019 season. The team has been playing in Buies Creek in Harnett County as the Buies Creek Astros while the stadium is under construction in downtown Fayetteville.

The red in the new team’s colors is fitting because red is the primary color of the City of Fayetteville’s colors, said team President Mark Zarthar. “And I think with the military crowd, Special Forces, etc., that the black, the gray, the red also is a good tie to that community as well,” he said.

There will be a full unveiling of the team, including its name, with a festival-type celebration in August, Zarthar said.

Since the beginning of the 2017 season, the Buies Creek Astros have been playing their home games at Campbell University’s Jim Perry Stadium.
