Personnel News: Vermont, Portland

Vermont Lake Monsters

We have personnel news to report from the Vermont Lake Monsters (Short Season A; NY-Penn League) and the Portland Pickles (summer collegiate; West Coast League).

In Vermont, the Lake Monsters have announced two additions to their front office staff. Heather Regnaud joins the Lake Monsters as the Staff Accountant, and Derrick McCabe joins the team as the Box Office Manager.

Originally from Vergennes, Vermont, Heather Regnaud joins the Lake Monsters with several years of bookkeeping and accounting experience. After graduation from Champlain College, Heather worked at Bolton Valley for a few years before heading south to the Caribbean island of St. John where she continued working in the bookkeeping field.

Derrick McCabe is new to Vermont, coming from Virginia. He has previously worked for the Salem Red Sox (High A; Carolina League) and Richmond Flying Squirrels (Class AA; Eastern League) Minor League Baseball teams in various ticketing roles. Derrick graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia in 2015.

“We are very excited to have Heather and Derrick join our staff”, says Lake Monsters General Manager Joe Doud. “Heather brings great experience to our organization, as she held a similar role at Bolton Valley. It will be great to use her knowledge and experience to better our operations. Derrick has a strong background in ticketing and will come into our Box Office very prepared. He will have a very short learning curve and we are excited to get him ready for Opening Day.”

Heather will primarily oversee the accounting operations for the Lake Monsters, along with a focus on other administrative duties. Derrick will oversee many of the Lake Monsters ticket programs, as well as the successful operation of the Box Office during the season.

In Portland, Jamie Walker has been named the new voice of the Pickles.

Flynn will be on the call for all 66 games including traveling with the Pickles on all road games. In addition to broadcasting, he will assume the role Media Relations Coordinator and Communications Manager, working with media to curate unique stories about the team and players. Pickles fans will also connect with Jamie as an Account Representative, servicing season ticket holders, groups and corporate partners.

“We are incredibly lucky to have Jamie joining the team this year. With his experience on the field, you can look forward to a unique perspective when you tune in,” said Bill Stewart, Owner and Operator. “With his contagious enthusiasm and passion for the game, Jamie will surely knock it out of the park with his multiple roles here.”

Flynn joins the Pickles having recently graduated from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). After graduating from Ashland High School in 2013, Flynn attended Cornell where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Communication. Flynn pitched at the Division I level for the Big Red while also writing and broadcasting for the Big Red Sports Network. Prior to joining Portland, Flynn worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for Table Rock Sports Network in Southern Oregon.

In Flynn’s senior season with Cornell, he posted a 2.25 ERA in relief, which was good enough for second on the team. Flynn also played four years (2013-2017) of summer baseball for the Medford Rogues; their field is 15 minutes away from his Southern Oregon home. Flynn would frequently join the Rogues broadcast team as a player/broadcaster.

Through playing for the Rogues, Flynn had a chance to familiarize himself with the West Coast League from 2013 through 2015. In his final season with the Rogues, Flynn’s 2.09 ERA in seven starts helped the team capture its first ever Great West League Championship.
