Don’t Look Now, But Spring Training is Just Around The Corner

Atlanta Braves Sarasota County spring complex

We’re midway through the 2017 MLB postseason, which means that we’re closer to 2018 spring training — and yes, there is news to pass along on the Grapefruit League and Cactus League fronts.

All of this news comes from our sister site, Spring Training Online.

First, we have some spring-training news from the Atlanta Braves and the groundbreaking on a new spring-training complex in North Port, Florida. The $100-million complex is scheduled to open for spring training 2019, providing for 16 months for construction and the Braves one last training camp at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Disney World. In a worse-case scenario, some of the training areas may not be done by February 2019, with the ballpark ready to roll.

Second, we’ve posted 2018 spring schedules from the Tampa Bay RaysBaltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics.

And, finally, we have some spring-training news from August Publications. Now available for pre-order: The Complete Guide to Spring Training 2018 / Arizona. The 232-page book is scheduled to be printed and shipped to our offices this week, which means it will go out to you next week. We have kept the price at $19.99, and we are still throwing in free shipping as part of the deal! The print edition is only available from August Publications. You can read more about the book here.
