Klamath Falls Gems Joining Great West League

Great West League

The Klamath Falls Gems are joining a new circuit, as the Great West League is adding the club to its slate of teams.

“We’re thrilled that the Gems ownership recognizes the value of being in our league,” announced Great West League Commissioner Ken Wilson.

The modern day Gems were originally in the West Coast League and most recently played in the Golden State Collegiate League. “We’re excited to enter an upbeat, faster paced league. Moving to the GWL offers us an opportunity to grow alongside a group of professionally operated clubs”, said Gems Co-Owner Joe O’Connor. “The GWL is one of the country’s premier summer college baseball leagues and we’re proud to be part of it.”

“For years I’ve been a big believer in Klamath Falls as a great baseball town with enthusiastic and loyal fans”, said Wilson. “More baseball is good for the game in the entire area, starting with young players, who’ll have big kids on the diamond to look up to.”

Gems Co-Owner and General Manager Brianna Schwenk added, “The GWL is an excellent way to continue building the Klamath Falls Gems and providing the ultimate entertainment experience for our community.” She continued, “We’re proud to be a member of the GWL and know it will be a great experience for our players and fans.”

The Gems will play 30-games at historic Kiger Stadium, including six-games with their arch-rival Medford Rogues.
