Mike Dunn is the new Vice President of Florida Operations for the Atlanta Braves, as the former Rome Braves (Low A; Sally League) GM will oversee development of the MLB team’s new spring-training complex in the West Villages in North Port.
Dunn has been a GM in the Braves organization for 21 years and has been down the new-ballpark route before when he was project manager for the construction of State Mutual Stadium while overseeing the move of the Braves from Macon to Rome.
“Mike has been an incredible asset to our organization and his strong leadership and organizational skills are a perfect fit for our new facility in Sarasota County,” said Mike Plant, Braves President of Development.
“I am honored and excited for this new challenge with the Atlanta Braves,” Dunn said. “Our new Florida spring training complex will be wonderful for North Port, Sarasota County, West Villages and the Atlanta Braves players and fans. Rome will forever be a part of me and my family. State Mutual Stadium is a great community asset with outstanding baseball fans and where many memories were made.”
A native of Meadville, PA, Dunn joined the Atlanta Braves organization in 1991 as part of the stadium operations department. Upon graduation from Elon College, Dunn began working with the Greenville Braves (Class AA; Southern League) as the Director of Stadium Operations. He was later promoted to Assistant General Manager, and then in 1996 he became the General Manager of the Macon Braves.
He has earned a variety of recognitions throughout his career, which include Georgia Trend magazine’s 40 under 40, General Manager of Year for the South Atlantic League and Executive of the Year in 2008 by the South Atlantic League and Minor League Baseball.
