Clearwater Threshers Set Team Attendance Record

Clearwater ThreshersAnother attendance record to report: The Clearwater Threshers (High A; Florida State League) set a new single-season attendance record, with 200,201 guests attending games at Spectrum Field over 67 home openings in 2017.

The new mark breaks the previous record of 195,063, set in 2014 over 70 openings. The record is also the second-highest single-season total all-time for a Florida State League team, passing the 2014 mark set by the Threshers. The St. Petersburg Cardinals hold the FSL attendance record with 202,383 in 1989 at Al Lang Stadium.

The Threshers’ 2017 average attendance of 2,988 is also the highest in team history, surpassing the 2014 average of 2,787 per game.

“The Threshers are very proud to have set a new all-time attendance record,” said Clearwater Threshers GM John Timberlake. “Although we fell just a bit short of the all-time Florida State League record, it is nonetheless a worthy accomplishment. It continues to be a testimony to not only the planning efforts and diligence of the Clearwater staff, but also to the support of our fans and partners throughout the greater Clearwater area. We have some of the greatest Minor League Baseball fans in the country. Their support and that of the entire Clearwater community made this possible and we owe them a great deal of thanks.”
