Cleburne Railroaders Set to Debut

Cleburne Railroaders

The baseball world will see the addition of a new ballpark on Thursday. That is when the upstart Cleburne Railroaders (independent; American Association) will play their first game and open The Depot at Cleburne Station.

The latest addition to the American Association’s ballpark scene, The Depot at Cleburne Station features some of the modern amenities fans have come to expect. It offers a fixed seating capacity of more than 1,750, with additional ticketing options like berm seating—located down the first and third base lines—and bleachers. There will also be several premium and group areas throughout the ballpark, including the Conductor’s Club, Farmers Insurance Party Deck, First Financial Bank Picnic Plaza, Brakeman’s Bar, and luxury suites.

Within some of these areas, the Railroaders are placing an emphasis on hospitality experience for games and versatility for non-game-day events. For instance, the team’s website says that events ranging from 250-400 guests can be accommodated at the Conductor’s Club, while Brakeman’s Bar—an area open to all ticket holders for Railroaders games—is available for rent on days when the team is not playing.

The Depot at Cleburne Station is aiming to be an exceptional home for the Railroaders, but it has also been conceived with more than baseball in mind. Along with hosting the Railroaders, The Depot at Cleburne Station is also home to FC Cleburne—a Premier Development League soccer club that will play its home opener at the facility on May 27.

In the weeks leading up to the arrival of the Railroaders, The Depot at Cleburne Station has seen plenty of action. It hosted the 2017 Heartland Conference Baseball Tournament, which brought six games to the ballpark over a three-day period from May 11-13. The Railroaders have also used the facility for pre-season exhibition games and hosted a fan fest at the facility earlier this spring.

The Railroaders will play their first regular season game on Thursday against the Winnipeg Goldeyes, kicking off a seven-game homestand that will include a visit from the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. This will be significant for Cleburne, a Texas town south of Fort Worth that has not been home to a professional baseball team since 1922. For the new generation of fans, the Railroaders and The Depot at Cleburne Station could usher in not only a new era of baseball, but also of ballpark entertainment.
