Shorebirds Detail Perdue Stadium Upgrades

New Perdue Stadium videoboard

The Delmarva Shorebirds (Low A; Sally League) have released additional details on the ongoing upgrades to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Current changes in the works at the ballpark, which is undergoing a multi-phase renovation, include a new video board and upgraded seating.

Perdue has recently signed a 10 year sponsorship agreement to support the Delmarva Shorebirds and Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. “We are grateful for the long-standing partnership with Perdue and our combined dedication to providing fans with the best overall experience at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium,” said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters.

Perdue has a long-time partnership with the Delmarva Shorebirds since the stadium was built 21 years ago. “As a tribute to Frank Perdue, who first brought a baseball team to the Eastern Shore, and his love for the game of baseball and his community, Perdue is proud to be a major sponsor in support of the Delmarva Shorebirds,” said Eric Christianson, senior vice president of marketing at Perdue. “This 10 year sponsorship exemplifies Perdue’s commitment to enhancing the family-friendly experience at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and providing the community with a nice place to enjoy one of America’s favorite pastimes.”

The new seating will ensure that each fan will have their own individual seat with a back while attending Shorebirds games. The installation of cup holders at each seat and replacing the bleacher seating will also be done. The field box section (first two rows closest to the field) and luxury level (third floor) will include padded seats, totaling 674 padded seats within the ballpark. In addition, the new upper reserved seating will allow groups that attend games at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium the ability to reserve their seats together and enjoy Shorebirds games.

The upper reserved seating has also undergone a waterproofing and sealant process to protect the foundation and further ensure the lifespan of the ballpark. Installation of the new seats began on Wednesday, February 1st and is expected to be completed by mid-March.

Along with new seats throughout the stadium, Arthur W. Perdue Stadium will add the installation of a new video board. The Daktronics DVX 15 HD Series will include a 20′ x 36′ (height by width) LED Board, which is 300% larger than the previous video board. It will provide excellent image quality from any seating location and be located in right center field.

The scoreboard will be moved from left field and placed underneath the video board, combining for a 35′ x 36′ (height by width) structure. Additional fan experience capabilities for replay, live action, etc. will be provided by three cameras used throughout the ballpark. Live stats including batting average, and more will be able to be displayed.

“We are dedicated to providing fans with the best overall experience when they are at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium,” said Bitters. “We are excited to allow our fans to be more comfortable with the new seats, as well as add to the fan experience with the new video board.”

Both projects are planned to be complete before Opening Night on Thursday, April 13, 2017 against the Hagerstown Suns.
