St. Paul Saints Unveil 25th Season Logo

St. Paul Saints 25th season logo

The St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association) have unveiled the commemorative logo for their 25th anniversary season.  This is part of the team’s season-long celebration of its silver anniversary.

In their 24-year history the Saints have drawn more than 6.3 million fans during the regular season and will hit the 1,000,000 mark at CHS Field during the 2017 season. During their first two seasons at CHS Field the Saints have drawn more than 818,000 fans, the highest two year total in franchise history. It will be a season of celebration featuring events and promotions looking back on the history of a storied franchise. Along with a season full of festivities the Saints are unveiling a commemorative 25-year logo.

The logo highlights the most iconic image of the Saints 25-year history, the pig. On the outside of the logo is a bold circle in the Saints blue with each year of the Saints existence, beginning with 1993 and going through 2017. At the top of the circle is the “CHS Field” logo, the same one that appears at the top of the video board and that overlooks the Broadway Plaza entrance. The CHS Field logo represents the team’s naming rights partner and their support of the 25th Season celebration. At the bottom of the logo is the “Saints” script that appears across the chest of the home uniforms. The inside of the logo contains the iconic pig image with the letters “STP” making up most of the body, which was introduced as part of the American Association All-Star logo when the Saints hosted the game in 2016. The pig image represents the four-legged swine mascot that delivers baseballs to the home plate umpire, which the team has had since day one. St. Paul has a rich history with pigs, which gave co-owner Mike Veeck the ball delivering idea prior to the teams first season. Pierre “Pig’s Eye” Parrant, was the first person of European descent to live within the borders of what would eventually become the city of St. Paul. The city would be nicknamed “Pig’s Eye Landing” based on Parrant’s popular tavern. Below the pig is the phrase “25 Seasons.”

“25 years. 25 pigs. 25 seasons of fun,” said Saints co-owner and president Mike Veeck. “We named the first pig; the fans named the next 24 . I guess it proves that fun and pigs are always best in the hands of the fans.”

The Saints will roll out their special 25-year uniform, at a later date, which will be worn during select home games in 2017. There will also be future announcements regarding special visits and giveaways as part of the 25-year festivities.
