Personnel moves in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem DashSome personnel news to report: The Winston-Salem Dash (High Class A; Carolina League) and their sister company Rhino Sports & Entertainment Services have announced four moves within their front-office teams.

Within the club’s sales department, Darren Hill is now the Director of Business Development, and Russell Parmele has become the Director of Group Sales. Corey Bugno, who was Rhino’s Director of Operations, was named the Dash’s Director of Corporate Sponsorships. Jeff Champigny has joined Rhino in Bugno’s former role.

Hill joined the Dash in 2010 as an outside sales representative and had previously held the title of Business Development Manager before this promotion. In this role, Darren is responsible for developing partnerships with local businesses so they can grow their company through the use of Dash ticket packages at BB&T Ballpark. Born and raised in Albemarle, he is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Parmele was hired by the Dash in 2009 as a group sales representative and has been an integral part of the franchise’s sales team since the move into BB&T Ballpark. His most recent role prior to this promotion was Group Sales Manager. Parmele works with churches, civic organizations, and athletic organizations to make their ballpark experiences fun, convenient and affordable. Also a UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus, Parmele will work his 11th season in Minor League Baseball in 2014.

Bugno became part of the organization in advance of the 2010 season as the Director of Stadium Operations. From there, he worked his way up to Senior Director of Operations for the Dash and the Director of Operations with Rhino. The Duquesne University graduate primarily oversaw Rhino’s relationship with Wake Forest University. He has worked in Minor League Baseball since 2006, a career that includes stops with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Lehigh Valley franchises.

Champigny comes to Rhino after working with RMC Events, Inc., for five years. Over his final three years with the company, Jeff acted as the Account Manager for the University of Virginia’s Athletic Department. In this role, he was in charge of all staffing and logistics for Virginia’s athletics events. A native of Smithfield, R.I., Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and his Master of Education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.

“The Winston-Salem Dash and Rhino Sports & Entertainment Services are thrilled to announce these decisions,” Dash and Rhino President Geoff Lassiter said. “We challenge ourselves to have the best front office team in Minor League Baseball, and these moves prove that we do have the best team in place. Darren, Russell, Corey and Jeff will continue to work hard to push the Dash and Rhino to a great 2014 and beyond.”
