No, Erie’s not moving to Ottawa

Erie SeaWolvesWe were pitched this story and passed because we know it’s not true, but apparently there’s enough talk to make it worth covering elsewhere: No, the Erie SeaWolves (Class AA; Eastern League) are not moving to Ottawa.

An original, erroneous report in the Ottawa Citizen had the Mandalay Baseball Properties-owned SeaWolves as being a team possibly moving to Ottawa, along with Binghamton and New Hampshire (!). Several readers passed it along, but we didn’t want to give such a silly report any credence.

The local newspaper in Erie followed up and discovered the same thing we were told: No, SeaWolves ownership is not negotiating a move of the team to Ottawa Stadium, and from we’re told the team is pretty firmly ensconced at Jerry Uht Park.
