Lugnuts, Blue Jays extend PDC

Lansing LugnutsThe Lansing Lugnuts (Low Class A: Midwest League) and the Toronto Blue Jays are extending their player-development contract (PDC) through the 2014 season.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays,” said Lansing Lugnuts Co-Owner Tom Dickson. “They’re a top notch Major League organization who are outstanding to work with, and it’s a pleasure watching the Lugnuts consistently showcase some of the brightest talent in all of the Minor Leagues.”

“Everything about Lansing makes this an excellent arrangement for us,” said Blue Jays Director of Minor League Operations Charlie Wilson. “From our relationship with the Lugnuts’ front office to the atmosphere and facilities at Cooley Law School Stadium, it was an easy decision to continue our connection to Minor League baseball in Mid-Michigan.”

Affiliated with Toronto since 2005, the Lugnuts have produced 40 Midwest League All-Stars; more than 550 victories; five playoff berths, including a 2011 trip to the MWL Championship Series; and 22 Major Leaguers.

“It is our goal to host ballplayers in Lansing with great character as well as great talent,” said Lugnuts General Manager Nick Grueser. “The Blue Jays have been outstanding in helping us achieve that expectation.”
