It looks like one rationale for a new downtown Birmingham ballpark — attracting economic development — is already coming to fruition, as several developers negotiate land deals in the immediate area.
The new home of the Birmingham Barons (Class AA; Southern League) has already attracted one sale of land to a developer, with several other scouting out parcels in the general area, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.
The $64-million ballpark and Negro Leagues museum will be located near downtown Birmingham at Railroad Park. Naming rights to the facility are carrying over from the Barons’ current home, Regions Park in suburban Hoover.
