River Bandits unveil Sky Deck Lounge

Quad Cities River BanditsWe caught a look at this under construction, and we’ll be eager to see the finished product: the Quad Cities River Bandits (Low Class A; Midwest League) unveiled a new enclosed Sky Deck Lounge at Modern Woodmen Park.

The team took an open picnic area at the third-base end of the third-floor suite level and converted it to a new glass-enclosed upscale lounge for groups. It may have the best vantage point in the ballpark, providing a nice view of the playing field and the Mississippi River while offering modern amenities currently found in many major league ballparks.

Designed to be a 365-days-a-year space, the Sky Deck Lounge is glass-enclosed on three sides and offers unmatched views of the Davenport City skyline on one side and the ballpark, the Mississippi River and the iconic Centennial Bridge on the other. Local architect Greg Gowey of SGGM Architects in Davenport outfitted the space with glass garage doors that will open up to allow a free-flowing breeze on beautiful summer evenings but remain closed during the cold winter months or on hot, muggy summer afternoons. The climate-controlled space features both heating and air-conditioning to allow for year-round usage.

“The City of Davenport has been a great partner, working with us to provide regular improvements to Modern Woodmen Park and ensuring it remains one of the finest facilities in all of Minor League Baseball,” said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. “Our fans are really going to enjoy the change to this popular area.  With stunning views of downtown, the field and the river and its own exclusive picnic menu, it’s a great space not just to enjoy a baseball game but for weddings, family gatherings, receptions, corporate board meetings…anything where people get together. There’s no other place in the entire region with such spectacular views of downtown and the river.”

“The City’s investment in Modern Woodman Park is returned tenfold to the people of Davenport:  we are recognized nationally for having one of the best minor league ballparks today, completely modernized and outfitted with all kinds of amenities for the entire family to enjoy,” said Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba.

The Sky Deck is now available for reservation by groups of 25 or more. Pricing for the Sky Deck starts as low as $26 per person, including a game ticket.
