The new owners of the Newark Bears (independent; Atlantic League) are bringing in some big names for their season opener tonight: former Secretary of State Colin Powell is throwing out the first pitch, while the legendary Patti LaBelle is signing the National Anthem.
The new owners took over the operations of the Bears after last season ended; former major leaguer Tim Raines is the new manager.
