Brockton announces “Made-Off-With-My-Money Bank” promotion

Alleged swindler Bernie Madoff is the subject of a promotion from the Brockton Rox.

The Brockton Rox (independent; Can-Am Association) are seizing on the Bernard Madoff news coverage with an August 8 giveaway: the “Made-Off-With-My-Money Bank.”

The “Made-Off-With-My-Money Bank” or “Made-Off Bank,” for short, is designed to help Rox fans keep their money, witn a feature to promote long-term investing with a penalty for early withdrawal. Investments can only be removed from the bank by smashing it open.

From the moment the gates open, events throughout the night will encapsulate the principles of responsible investing and proper supervision. The Rox will extend a special invitation to a local hero for blowing the whistle on a highly publicized, fraudulent investment scheme. Boston-based financial investigator Harry Markopoulos will be invited to throw out the evening’s ceremonial first pitch. In Markopoulos’ honor, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” will be performed by a whistle-blowing band during the seventh-inning stretch. In addition, Rox Manager Chris Carminucci pledged his support.

“Any one of my players caught stealing during that game will have to pay a fine,” he said. “Hopefully it will spread the message that stealing is wrong and getting thrown out at third base with two outs is even worse.”

The Made-Off Bank, shown above, is not modeled after any one individual and any likeness to real persons is purely coincidental — but just in case the Rox added a funny nose and glasses.
