Dukes Retro Night Set for July 21

A popular throwback promotion will return this summer, as the Albuquerque Isotopes (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) will host Dukes Retro Night on July 21.

Throwback nights are a promotional staple around Minor League Baseball, and the Isotopes have contributed to that trend over the years with their annual tribute to the Albuquerque Dukes. Multiple franchises in Albuquerque’s professional baseball lineage used the Dukes moniker, but the Isotopes’ annual Dukes Retro Night is traditionally a tribute to the city’s former Pacific Coast League franchise that played at Albuquerque Sports Stadium from 1972-2000.

This year’s Dukes Retro Night will be held on Sunday, July 21, when the Isotopes host the El Paso Chihuahuas. More details on the promotion could emerge between now and then, but Dukes Retro Night was one of the highlights in an announcement of new 2019 promotions from the Isotopes on Saturday.

Along with Dukes Retro Night, the Isotopes have added a Mariachis Piñatas giveaway for the first 3,000 fans in attendance on June 25 to their promotional schedule. A nod to Mariachis de Nuevo México— the team’s Copa de la Diversión identity–the piñatas add to a Mariachis series that now features four giveaways, including Mariachis Fleece Blankets on April 6 (first 2,500 fans 21 and older), Adult Jerseys on July 19 (first 2,500 fans 16 and older), and Ballet Folklórico Bobbleheads on August 11 (first 3,000 fans).

Information on those promotions, as well as Dukes Retro Night, can be found in Saturday’s announcement.
