Hagerstown Suns on the Market

Hagerstown Suns

The Hagerstown Suns (Low A; Sally League) are on the market, and the franchise is working with an advisory group to complete a sale.

Bruce Quinn, who owns the Suns under Hagerstown Baseball LLC, has confirmed that the team has sought the assistance of The Sports Advisory Group to find a buyer. While word of this development surfaced in local reports on Tuesday, the Suns have actually been on the market for some time. Over the past year, attempts over to sell the team have fallen through.

In addition to working with the Suns, The Sports Advisory Group has been in touch with Hagerstown officials. More from The Herald-Mail:

Quinn said the Suns signed the agreement “as many teams do when they explore selling or buying a professional sports team.”

Larry Grimes, founder and president of the Gaithersburg, Md.-based Sports Advisory Group, said he could not comment on the agreement.

Mayor David S. Gysberts said he was aware of the agreement but said he did not have any further details about it.

Gysberts said he has had conversations with Grimes.

Under various ownership groups over the years, the Suns have attempted to secure a new ballpark in Hagerstown or elsewhere to replacing the aging Municipal Stadium. The Suns’ current lease at Municipal Stadium runs through the 2018 season.
