SunTrust Park to Open March 31, 2017

SunTrust Park

An opening date for SunTrust Park has been set, as the Atlanta Braves will host the New York Yankees at the new ballpark on March 31.

SunTrust Park has been hyped for some the technology it will be introducing to ballparks, including state-of-the-art high speed internet connectivity from Comcast. Recent reports indicate that construction of SunTrust Park is about 75 complete, and the Braves will play their final game at Turner Field within a matter of week. The announcement about the exhibition game against the Yankees–which will mark the Braves’ final spring training contest–serves as another reminder of how close the ballpark is to opening.

The game will be open to all Braves A List Members only – full and partial season ticket holders. Full season packages will include a ticket to this game.

“The excitement is growing for the opening of SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta, and we want to share that excitement as a reward to our season ticket holders and showcase the building for the first time in front of them,” said Derek Schiller, Braves President, Business. “Our new ballpark will be among the best in Major League Baseball, and this game will give our A-List members the opportunity to get a first glimpse at SunTrust Park. It will give them the chance to find their way to the ballpark, find their way around the ballpark, try out our new concessions and experience firsthand all of the state-of-the-art amenities.”

The Braves also are planning various other public events during March and April to give the community the opportunity to see SunTrust Park prior to Opening Day, 2017.

In addition to being two of the oldest and most successful franchises in MLB history, the Braves and Yankees both figure to field young, exciting teams in 2017. The two teams have faced off 31 times in the regular season and postseason with the Yankees holding a 19-12 overall edge, including victories in the 1996 and 1999 World Series.
