Broadcaster Sean Aronson is on the verge of a milestone, as he will call his 1,000th game for the St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association). With his broadcast on Labor Day, Aronson will become the first announcer in team history to reach 1,000 games.
On Monday, September 5 at 11:05 a.m., in the final regular season game for the Saints, the 39-year-old Aronson will do something he’s done 999 previous times: walk into the broadcast booth, put on the headset and bring the sights and sounds of a Saints game to the viewers and listeners.
Aronson began his Saints career on May 10, 2007 on the road in St. Joseph, MO and his first home game, at Midway Stadium, occurred five days later. During his 10 seasons with the Saints he’s missed just six games, three in 2007 for a family medical emergency and three in 2009 for his sister’s wedding in California. The 1,000 games include 22 playoff games and 978 regular season Saints games. During his tenure Aronson has broadcast two championship series (2007 and 2011) and three playoff appearances (2007, 2011 & 2015), including the record breaking 2015 season when the Saints went an amazing 74-26. He will also broadcast the Saints 2016 playoff appearance, after they clinched a berth on Thursday night. His 10 seasons with the Saints is the longest tenure, with one team, by any American Association broadcaster.
The Saints have had a long line of successful broadcasters during their 24-year history with Anthony LaPanta (Minnesota Wild, FSN), Kris Atteberry (Minnesota Twins), Ryan Lefebvre (Kansas City Royals) and Joe Block (Pittsburgh Pirates) using their time with the organization to reach the upper echelon of the profession.
The 2016 season is the 16th as a play-by-play broadcaster in Minor League Baseball for Aronson. He was nominated for a Regional Emmy for Saints TV broadcasts in 2010 and was chosen as the second best broadcaster in all of Minor League Baseball in 2011 by BallparkDigest.com. He works year round with the Saints and is also in charge of the media relations. Prior to his tenure with the Saints, Aronson worked for another Goldklang Group team, the Fort Myers Miracle (Single-A Twins), from 2003-06. He began his broadcasting career with the Allentown Ambassadors of the then Northern League from 2001-02. Aronson graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a B.S. in Journalism and grew up in Northridge, CA.
