Barons Set New Attendance Record

Birmingham Barons

By playing in front of 8,587 fans last night, the Birmingham Barons (Class AA; Southern League) set a new attendance record at Regions Field

Friday’s crowd not only marked the fourth sellout of the 2016 season, but set a new Regions Field attendance record, breaking the previous mark of 8,577 fans set August 15, 2015. Tonight marks the 33rd sellout in Regions Field history and the second capacity crowd this series.

Regions Field opened in 2013, and has been a steady draw ever since. With Friday’s attendance figure included, a total of 1,377,082 fans have visited the ballpark in its four-plus seasons of operation.

Despite the support, the Barons were shutout in a close loss. In a pitcher’s duel, starter Ryan Yarbrough and the Jackson Generals walked away with a 2-0 victory.
