New Savannah team unveils all-inclusive ballpark for 2016

Savannah Baseball

We’re still waiting for the name of a new summer-collegiate Coastal Plain League team in Savannah’s Grayson Stadium, but we do know owner Fans First Entertainment will present an interesting twist: most of the game attendees will have an all-inclusive food and drink ticket.

Team president Jared Orton unveiled the plan to offer all-inclusive tickets as part of season tickets, five- and ten-game memberships and group sales. Fans will be offered chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, soda, water and dessert throughout the game, for $15 a ticket.

“We believe we can create the best value in sports,” said Orton.  “Fans will have the opportunity to come enjoy non-stop entertainment and baseball as well as have all their food and drinks covered for $15. We’ve already begun to receive a huge response from fans who want to purchase these season memberships and mini-plans to receive this amazing value.”

Orton also announced that Savannah Baseball is teaming up with the Savannah Morning News to launch a name-the-team contest.  Fans can visit savannahnow.com/nameourteam or savannahbaseball2016.com to give their suggestion for the team name. The contest will run until November 30. At that point Savannah Baseball will announce the five finalists to the public.  The winning name will be announced after the New Year, once logos, uniforms and merchandise have been completed.

Fans First Entertainment is owned by Jesse Cole, and it also owns and operates the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League. The new Coastal Plain League team replaces the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low A; Sally League); that team will begin play next season in Columbia, S.C.

“We couldn’t be more excited to become a huge part of the Savannah community,” Cole said. “We have quickly fallen in love with this community and Historic Grayson Stadium and we can’t wait to deliver our unique form of baseball and entertainment.”
