York begins countdown to 10th-anniversary season

York RevolutionWow, how time flies: the York Revolution (independent; Atlantic League) unveiled a 10th-anniversary logo as well as plans to mark the occasion in 2016.

This fall, the organization will make several announcements leading up to Opening Day 2016 (April 28) about plans for the 10th anniversary season of Revolution baseball. The first such announcement came in August, when online fan voting began to determine the York Revolution 10th Anniversary Team, which will last until February when the team is announced.  Former players elected to the team will be honored in-person on opening day. Fans may vote an unlimited number of times by clicking here or visiting YorkRevolution.com.

The next step is also fan-interactive, as the Revolution are asking fans to submit their favorite fan photos via the team’s social media channels, which will be used to comprise the back numerals on a special 10th anniversary jersey the team will wear exclusively for Friday night home games in 2016.  The jerseys will be auctioned off to fans at season’s end.

In addition to the team wearing the fan-photo inspired jerseys on the field each Friday night, the Revolution will soon unveil plans for a special bobblehead and giveaway series to honor famous Yorkers as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration.

Fans may submit their ballpark photos from any of the Revolution’s first nine seasons on the team’s Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #Revs10.  All photos will be considered, as the numerals on the jersey will be created with a mosaic of fan photos.  The Revolution reserves the right to exclude any photos, but will strive to include as many submitted as possible.  There is no limit on the number of photos a fan may submit.

A 10th Anniversary will appear on official Revolution marketing materials throughout the 2016 season, as well as 10th anniversary merchandise, giveaways and the team’s primary home uniforms and special 10th anniversary jersey.

“A milestone such as this only happens once, and we have to do it right,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer. The logo and the ‘fan photo jerseys’ is just a down payment on a whole series of things we will be doing to make our 10th season extra special for our fans. We want people to be saying ‘wow’ by the time we get to opening day next year, and continue that all season.”
