Patriots poised to welcome six-millionth fan

TD Bank Ballpark

The Somerset Patriots (independent; Atlantic League) are nearing a big milestone — the six-millionth fan at TD Bank Ballpark — and are holding an interesting contest to honor the winner.

Entering Tuesday night’s contest with the Long Island Ducks, the Somerset Patriots are just 8,118 fans away from the milestone. With three more home games this week, the Somerset Patriots should hit their six-millionth fan by Thursday’s contest. To commemorate the milestone, the Somerset Patriots have a special celebration planned to select an Honorary 6,000,000th Fan at the ballpark. Through September 1, fans will be able to sign up to be entered into a drawing to be named the six-millionth fan.

Six people will be chosen and invited back to the Sunday, September 13 game where the six-millionth fan will be announced down on the field during the game from among the six finalists.

The six-millionth fan will receive a prize pack including team memorabilia, 2016 Season Tickets, a suite night for family and friends in 2016, a team signed bat, a 6,000,000th Fan Patriots Jersey, and special prizes from marketing partners of the team.

“We are excited to welcome our six-millionth fan,” said Patrick McVerry, president/general manager of the Somerset Patriots. “It’s been our absolute pleasure to serve our fans for 16 years and their support has made us the very best in minor league baseball. The milestone will not only be for us as an organization, but a testament to a fan base and community that has made TD Bank Ballpark its home away from home,”

The Somerset Patriots welcomed their five-millionth fan in team history on September 12, 2012. The team’s 4,000,000th fan was reached on May 21, 2010 when Gregory Begg of Basking Ridge, escorted by his three children, entered the gates at 7:25 pm and became the 4,000,000th fan to attend a game since the ballpark opened in June of 1999.
