Another milestone to note: the Birmingham Barons (Class AA; Southern League) set a record for attendance at a Sunday game, with 7,053 fans in attendance at Regions Field.
Despite the fan support, the Barons were unable to pick up the win against the Tennessee Smokies. Birmingham lost 3-0 as the Smokies tied the series 2-2 with the shutout. Tennessee starting pitcher Ivan Pineyro was on-point, giving up just five hits in seven innings to pick up his second win of the year.
