Blue Rocks, Dogfish Head team up for ballpark Happy Hour

Wilmington Blue RocksMore food/beer news, this time from the Wilmington Blue Rocks (High Class A; Carolina League), who are teaming up with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery on Thursday Happy Hours at Frawley Stadium.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and running until 7 p.m. during every Thursday home contest, fans can enjoy craft beers on the Dogfish Off-centered Fan Deck in the first-base picnic area, including Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA drafts for $3, 90 Minute IPA bottles for $3, and Domestics and Wines for $2 each. The Blue Rocks will also feature a different Dogfish Head seasonal or specialty ale on specific Thursdays throughout the 2015 campaign.

Two unique collaborations taking place this year include “Firkin of 75 IPA” on May 21, and “Randalls and Candles” on June 25. The “Firkin of 75 IPA” event will feature Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA in a firkin or cask. Like the rest of their beers, the liquid in this container has not been pasteurized, but also has not been carbonated and is served in the fashion of “real ale.” With “Randalls and Candles,” Dogfish Head will be celebrating its 20th birthday, and they want to mark the occasion by presenting this special event at Frawley Stadium. The event will include beer that is served from a “Randall” which can be filled with additional ingredients that infuse the beer with added flavor.

“Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is excited to partner with the Wilmington Blue Rocks for the 2015 season,” said Neal Stewart, vice president of marketing with Dogfish Head. “Taking in a game at Frawley Stadium is one of the most off-centered experiences in all of minor league baseball, so it only makes sense to enjoy the Blue Rocks with one of our off-centered ales.  Dogfish and the Blue Rocks will be offering fans a variety of craft beer-centric events that bring a little bit of our Milton, DE brewery up to Wilmington.”

The first Beer: 30 Thursday takes place at the home opener on April 16 with Aprihop IPA on tap.  The same beer will be available during the April 30 home tilt. The Namaste Belgian-style Wit will be a popular one in Wilmington this season and fans can enjoy the brew on May 14, June 25 (through the Randall), July 16, August 13, and August 20. The Firefly Ale will be available for the first and only time on June 4. The Festina Peche brew makes back to back appearances, going on sale on July 2 and July 9. The final Beer: 30 Thursday will be held on September 3 with the fittingly Fall Punkin Ale.

“With Dogfish Head Craft Brewery being an industry leader and more importantly, a Delaware original, we take great pride in partnering with them to craft a whole new way of doing happy hour,” said Blue Rocks Director of Advertising Sales Brian Radle. “This collaboration will inject some of Dogfish Head’s off-centered culture into our ballpark experience, and give our fans a new way of experiencing the Blue Rocks each Thursday.”
