We have two more PDC renewals in the short season A NY-Penn League to report, as the Batavia Muckdogs/Miami Marlins and Auburn Doubledays/Washington Nationals affiliations will continue through 2016.
A joint announcement was made by Marlins Farm Director Brian Chattin and Brian Paris, president of the Genesee County Baseball Club, the non-for-profit that owns the Batavia Muckdogs Franchise.
“The Genesee County Baseball Club is pleased to announce that we will be extending our working relationship with the Miami Marlins for two more years,” Paris said. “The Marlins have proven to be a great organization that brings with them solid baseball experience and good people. They’ve been a first class organization to work with and we’re fortunate to have them as our affiliate in Batavia. On behalf of the entire community and the Genesee County Baseball Club, we are anxious to get started with another year of professional baseball in Batavia.”
“We’re very pleased to see the working relationship between Batavia and the Miami Marlins extended,” said Naomi Silver, President and CEO of Red Wings Management, LLC, the company which has managed the Muckdogs since 2008. ” The Marlins have done everything a Minor League franchise could hope for in an affiliation. They also understand how important small town Minor League Baseball is to the Batavia Community and they deserve a lot of credit for providing the baseball fans of Batavia with extremely talented young players.”
“The Miami Marlins are very excited to continue with our affiliation with the Batavia Muckdogs,” Chattin said. “With its rich baseball history, supportive front office and loyal fan base, Batavia is an ideal place for our players and staff to call home each summer. The Marlins are proud to have Batavia as our player development partner and look forward to a long and productive partnership together.”
In Auburn, the Nationals/Doubledays deal was announced as another two-year extension.
“We are proud to continue our association with the Auburn Doubledays,” said general manager Mike Rizzo. “They have been a quality partner of ours for several years now and we look forward to our ongoing partnership.”
“We are pleased to extend our Player Development Contract with the Washington Nationals,” Auburn General Manager Mike Voutsinas said. “The Nats’ commitment to developing quality young men both on and off the field makes them an ideal Major League affiliate.”
“Auburn has been a great place for us to send our players, many of them fresh out of high school or college and just beginning their professional careers,” said Nationals assistant general manager Doug Harris. “We are thrilled to continue sending many of our young players there.”
