Storm Chasers unveil 2014 upgrades to Werner Park

Omaha Storm ChasersLast season was a great one for the Omaha Storm Chasers (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League), and the team is planning on more fan-experience enhancements for 2014.

“Although Werner Park is still a relatively new facility, we have a commitment to never stay complacent and always think about each way we can make it the best sports venue in the Omaha metro,” said Martie Cordaro, President and General Manager of the Storm Chasers.  “Our striving to make these improvements each year has put us in position to host premiere events like the 2015 Triple-A Baseball All-Star Game.”

Leading off the lineup of changes to Werner Park are the upgrades to the replay system displayed on the video board and on MiLB.tv. The new system will give fans three additional angles to provide better perspectives for Omaha Vision Source Instant Replays in-park and enhance the viewing experience for online streaming.  Also added to the SCTV production will be a new HD wireless camera, with the range to go anywhere throughout Werner Park while eliminating the delay between the video board and P.A. microphone that fans voiced concerns with in past seasons.

The Budweiser Downdraught Bar will feature modifications that will make left-center field the destination for Storm Chasers fans 21 years old or over.  Featuring a larger gated area with a more exclusive feel, the Downdraught Bar will now include a permanent food cart with BBQ sandwiches and the all-new BBQ Nachos, as well as three new permanent HD televisions. Beyond the Downdraught Bar, drinks rails have been installed at various parts of Werner Park so fans can stop and enjoy a beverage.

In addition, the Centris Federal Credit Union Family Fun Zone will introduce two exciting new options. Along with all the returning fan favorites, the Family Fun Zone will now include a giant 20-foot, two-lane slide as well as an inflatable test of accuracy where young fans bounce balls into multiple targets on a baseball field with the potential to win prizes.

Finally: For the first time ever, Werner Park will dedicate a food cart to entirely healthy options at the Heartland Food Cart, including the Faux Philly with meat substitute, a black bean patty sandwich and salad shakers.  But for those with a meaty appetite, the new premiere item for the 2014 season is the “Champ Burger” at the Omaha Steaks Concession Stand, which stacks up three beef patties, bacon, ham, crispy onions and three kinds of cheese.
