Pelicans: We want Wilson — for a single game

Russell Wilson in Asheville

Nice promo: the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (High Class A; Carolina League) are offering to donate $10,000 to a charity of his choice if Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson plays a single game at TicketReturn.Com Field.

Now, as you’ll recall, Wilson played in the Colorado Rockies farm system, making it as high as Low Class A Asheville. However, the Texas Rangers chose Wilson in the most recent Rule 5 draft — setting a path for Wilson to play with the Rangers affiliate.

Wilson is no stranger to TicketReturn.Com Field. In fact, on February 26, 2010 he hit an extra-inning walk-off home run against UC Irvine as a member of the North Carolina State baseball team. Russell has played several games at Pelicans ballpark and would be welcomed back at any time.

“Wilson has an open invitation to our ballpark, whether he wants to suit up or just enjoy a game with his wife,” said Pelicans General Manager Andy Milovich. “We’re looking forward to having him reunite with Pelicans Manager Joe Mikulik, who managed him in Asheville.”

The Pelicans also prepared a video to help recruit the affable Wilson. If the charitable donation is not enough, Milovich shows his dedication to bringing Wilson to TicketReturn.com Field in the video attached below. Fans are asked to join in the effort by sharing the video on social media and include #wewantwilson.

Of course, Wilson has some other pressing issues to deal with over the weekend; Andy and crew may need to wait a few days for an answer.
