New scoreboard going up at Steinbrenner Field

Steinbrenner Field

Another sign of spring: teams are prepping ballparks for the start of February games, and that means the installation of a new videoboard at Steinbrenner Field, spring home of the New York Yankees.

The new videoboard replaces a smaller unit.

This week has been spent in Florida, scouting out the spring-training sites and checking on what’s new for 2014. Beginning next week you can expect daily upgrades on our sister site, Spring Training Online, the definitive guide to spring training on the Web. We’ll also take this as an opportunity to pump our advertisers this spring: the InterContinental Tampa, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Triple Crown Travel, a great source of spring-training and regular-season MLB travel packages.

It should be a busy spring training: many games (especially those involving the Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies and Rays) are already sold out, and there’s limited capacity for many others.
