Martinsville, Team Cole extend Mustangs management deal

Martinsville MustangThe city of Martinsville and Team Cole extended the management contract for the Martinsville Mustangs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League) after a successful 2013 season.

The original deal between the two was limited only to 2013; the new deal awards team management to Team Cole through 2019.

“We couldn’t be more excited to continue growing the Mustangs in the years to come,” said President Jesse Cole. “In our first year, this community was tremendous with their support and we owe all of our success to our great fans throughout Martinsville and Henry County.”

Last season was a record-breaking year for the Mustangs as they set nearly ever organizational attendance record, including average attendance (1,603) and total attendance (43,239). The Mustangs also finished 16th in the country in attendance out of over 400 teams in summer-league baseball.

In the first season under Team Cole, the Mustangs increased season ticket sales by over 400% and added a premium seating area for groups. The Mustangs were also heavily involved in the community, serving on several boards and raising over $13,000 for non-profits.

Team Cole manages three teams in the Coastal Plain League: the Forest City Owls, the Gastonia Grizzlies and the Mustangs.
