Las Cruces Sun Rays

The newest team in the independent American West Baseball League has a logo and a name: the Las Cruces Sun Rays.

No other information was released, apart from the fact that team is playing in Apodaca Park, a former Pecos League facility.

“We are excited to begin this new professional baseball endeavor in Las Cruces and we are very happy to announce that the name was voted on
through our Facebook page by the Las Cruces community,” said says AWBL CEO Michael Cummings.

The AWBL, now down to three teams: the Nogales Desert Ghosts, the Sun Rays and the Fullerton Flyers, which in the past was scheduled as a road team.
