Middlesex County to make another run at pro baseball?

Ballpark DigestIt sounds like Middlesex County (N.J.) is ready to make another run at professional baseball, as Freeholder Director Christopher D. Rafano says county officials will work on a public/private partnership on a new facility.

Not much else was discussed, as Rafano made the announcement during his annual director’s address, outlining county activities for the year ahead. He described a public/private partnership that would provide a new ballpark at no cost to taxpayers.

This wouldn’t be the first time the county broached the issue of pro baseball: in 2007 Somerset Patriots (independent; Atlantic League) owner Steve Kalafer worked on a plan for a new ballpark along Route 33, in the southern part of the county.
