Midland ballpark naming rights on market after Citibank defection

Midland RockHoundsThe home of the Midland RockHounds (Class AA; Texas League) will have a new name in 2014, after the current naming-rights deal with Citibank ends in 2013.

It’s been Citibank Ballpark since 2005, after the banking giant bought the original rightsholder First American Bank, which held the rights when the ballpark opened in 2002.

The city controls naming rights. It’s not a bad situation, in a way: Citibank gave Midland a lot of time to shop around rights. Last year Citibank paid $87,118 for naming rights.
