Book news 1: Solomon pens book on the business of minor-league baseball

New Hampshire Fisher CatsArt Solomon, owner of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Class AA; Eastern League) and Bowling Green Hot Rods (Low Class A; Midwest League), has some out with a new book, Making It in the Minors, set for a fall release.

Making It in the Minors details how Solomon’s DSF Sports combines creative marketing, entertainment, and community involvement to produce a winner off the field, a goal organizations strive for, but often fall short of.

In the book, Solomon discusses the new breed of sports owner, how to create lasting, successful partnerships throughout the community, the use of customized advertising and promotions, and the importance of hiring and training a professional staff that continuously builds and grows the brand. Making It in the Minors also takes a look at the economics of the business and the keys to becoming a sustainable, profitable entity.

The book is set for a Nov. 7 release, but fans can preorder the book — at a discount — immediately on the team’s website.
