ESPN to broadcast every College World Series game

College World SeriesIf you can’t make it to Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park for the College World Series, you can do the next best thing: watch it on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.

For the 10th straight year ESPN will broadcast every College World Series game from TD Ameritrade Park, beginning Friday, June 15, and concluding with the best-of-three College World Series Finals Sunday, June 24 through Tuesday, June 26.

The network’s 33rd straight year at the College World Series will be seen on ESPN or ESPN2 with simulcasts on ESPN3. Every telecast will be offered in high definition on ESPN HD or ESPN2 HD. Telecasts of the event will include Kyle Peterson as an in-booth analyst, use of K-Zone and X-Mo, SportsCenter on site, Sports Science segments, music from country artist Jason Aldean, vignettes and more.

Commentators
Former Stanford pitcher and two-time College World Series participant Kyle Peterson will provide analysis from the booth. Peterson, who serves as an analyst on ESPN’s regular-season and Championship round game telecasts, has worked as a field analyst during the College World Series since 2005.

Orel Hershiser and Nomar Garciaparra will return as analysts with Mike Patrick, Karl Ravech and Jon Sciambi providing play-by-play. Softball Olympic Gold (2004) and Silver (2008) Medalist Jessica Mendoza will report from the field along with former Florida standout Jenn Brown.

K Zone and X Mo
For second straight year, ESPN will use the Sports Emmy Award-winning K Zone at the College World Series. K Zone identifies the speed and location of a pitch in replays as well as tracks the path of the ball from the pitcher’s hand through the strike zone and numerically sequences pitches thrown. ESPN worked with Sportvision to develop the technology that is also seen on the network’s Major League Baseball telecasts.

Telecasts will also utilize the X Mo replay system that films more frames per second of action than previous slow- motion capabilities. The technology eliminates motion blur and provides the viewer with clearer images, such as ball rotation, seams on the ball, a slide at the plate and more.

SportsCenter at the College World Series
SportsCentersegments will originate from TD Ameritrade Park from June 18-20 and include analysts Hershiser, Peterson and Garciaparra on set.

“Omaha to the Bigs”
New “Omaha to Bigs” vignettes will showcase ESPN Major League Baseball analyst and former professional manager Terry Francona, who won two World Series with the Boston Red Sox, and former ESPN college baseball analyst and current Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura.

Sports Science
Telecasts will include several Sports Science segments, including host John Brenkus providing a look at how TD Ameritrade Park has a lower rate of home runs and runs scored compared to Rosenblatt Stadium, which hosted the College World Series from 1950-2010.
