Somerset Patriots unveil ballpark improvements

Somerset PatriotsMore ballpark news from the independent Atlantic League, where the Somerset Patriots have unveiled ballpark improvements to TD Bank Ballpark.

New this year, from CentralJersey.com:

TD Bank Ballpark’s renovations include the installation of a protective railing in front of both dugouts, a fully refurbished home clubhouse and the addition of the Diamond Club hospitality suite flush with modern amenities and designed to hold groups of up to 50 people.

“It was time to touch upon some areas that haven’t been touched upon,” president and general manager Patrick McVerry said. “Of course, we wanted to erase some of the feeling we got last year and create a feeling of newness, but we ask ourselves after every year, ‘How do we improve?’ ”

The Patriots suffered both on the field and at the gate last season, where a disappointing record may have been tied to the team’s lowest attendance since 2003. But owner Steve Kalafer says ticket and sponsor sales are already up this year.
