Don’t look now, but spring training is around the corner

Camelback Range at Glendale

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but spring training is around the corner. Time to make your plans, as tickets are going fast at some spring-training ballparks.

At least, that’s the report from Scottsdale, where Salt River Fields general manager David Dunne reports that opening day and some weekend games for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies are already sold out. Not a surprise: the two teams combined to lead the Cactus League in attendance last year. In general, ticket sales appear to be strong for spring training, and tomorrow we’ll be issuing our weekly roundup of ticket availability in the weekly Spring Training Online newsletter.

In case you weren’t aware, we do a sister site called Spring Training Online, which focuses on the spring-training experience. If you sign up for the spring-training newsletter, you’ll receive our tips on ticket sales, what teams are sold out, and alternative strategies. We’re also planning on the release of a new edition of our Complete Guide to Spring Training; we’ll be announcing it next week, giving you plenty of time to plan your March trip.
