Yet another change in the independent American Association lineup: the Fort Worth Cats have had their league membership revoked after failing to put up a required letter of credit for 2012.
“We regret having to take this action,” said league commissioner Miles Wolff. “Fort Worth has been a valuable member of the league since we restarted in 2006, and we hope to find ownership that meets our requirements and will enable Fort Worth to continue in the league for the 2012 season and beyond.”
The league didn’t waste any time in holding a dispersal draft for the players under contract. If a new owner is found for the team, then the players will be returned.
Financial problems plagued the Cats throughout the last two seasons and at one time a bank foreclosed on LaGrave Field.
