River Bandits offer first crack at tix to Facebook, Twitter followers

Quad Cities River BanditsHere’s an interesting twist on the use of social media in baseball marketing: the Quad Cities River Bandits (Low Class A; Midwest League) are offering Facebook, Twitter and newsletter followers first crack at individual game tickets for the 2011 season.

Today followers of the River Bandits on Twitter, friends of Rascal and fans of the River Bandits on Facebook, and Bandit Alert subscribers will be given a special promo code allowing them to purchase All-Star Game tickets, All-Star Home Run Derby tickets and Opening Day tickets at Modern Woodmen Park in addition to all other individual game tickets online or by phone before they go on sale to the general public. This special pre-order period will extend through the weekend and end on Monday at noon.

“Using social media and the Internet is a great way to reward our most loyal fans by giving them first chance to get the best seats available for our premium games,” said team owner Dave Heller. “It’s always a fun time of year when individual game tickets go on sale, and it’s enhanced by the fact that this includes tickets to the Midwest League All-Star Game here at Modern Woodmen Park on June 21.”

Ticket sales will open up to the general public for online and phone sales only on Monday, March 14 at 9 a.m.
