New owners slash ticket prices in High Desert

High Desert MavericksThe new owners of the High Desert Mavericks (High Class A; California League) certainly are shaking things up in Adelanto: the team has cut ticket prices and implemented a new, flexible ticket return policy.

When individual tickets go on sale, all lower box seats will be sold for $7.50 instead of the $8 price from last season. Upper box seats will remain at $6, though children under 12 and senior citizens will be eligible for a $1 discount for their tickets. No other team in the California League charges less than $9 for the best seats in the house; the Mavs are charging just $7.50. In addition, the Mavericks have the lowest average ticket price in the California League, and no team in the League sells any fixed seat for less than the Mavs’ price of $6 (though lawn seats at Inland Empire games are $5).

In addition, Mavs fans can now return any unused ticket right up until the game starts and exchange it for a similar ticket (subject to availability) for any future Mavericks game.

“There has been much debate within the California League as to whether the Victor Valley would support professional affiliated baseball,” said team owner Dave Heller. “Well, we are going to give them every reason to come out. The lowest ticket prices in the league, better food with bigger portions, lots more in-game entertainment and more give-aways. And now we have the most flexible ticket-return policy in all of baseball. If the people of the Victor Valley want affiliated ball, we are going to give them a great show at a discounted price.”

The Mavericks are cutting ticket prices, improving concessions, and introducing a flex-ticket plan in an effort to significantly increase attendance at Stater Bros. Stadium. The team hopes the fans of the area will step up to the plate and purchase season tickets and mini-plans for the upcoming 2011 season. Success with this effort will be a key component in evaluating the future of the team in the High Desert.

The Mavericks offer ticket plans that fit virtually any schedule and budget and incorporate all of the best promotions the team has to offer. Starting at just 8-games for $44.00/seat, fans can enjoy fireworks shows, giveaways, concession specials and much more. Fans even have the flexibility of the special “U-Pick ‘Em Plan” and can choose the games they want to see for a discount off the normal walk-up price.

“We have some great plans for this upcoming season, including highly upgraded concessions, new forms of entertainment for fans to enjoy and some of the best fireworks shows the team has ever put on,” said vice president Kirk Goodman. “We want to invite old fans back, new fans in for the first time and give our loyal fans something new to see and talk about. 2011 is a big year for the Mavericks and we hope to see the fans show us how much they want to see the Mavericks in the High Desert.”
