Lackawanna County issues RFQ for PNC Field redesign

PNC Field

Lackawanna County has issued a Request for Proposals/Qualifications for the architectural redesign of PNC Field, the home of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (Class AAA; International League), with an opening of 2013 in mind.

The deadline is Dec. 13, at noon. You can view the RFQ here in PDF form.

Philadelphia’s Ewing Cole has been a design consultant to Lackawanna County on the project.

Renovations would not begin until after the 2011 SWB Yankees season ends, would continue through the 2012 season and be completed in time for the 2013 season opener; a specific timeline is still to be determined, and there’s a chance the SWB Yankee could play the 2012 at another ballpark. The upper bowl as well as most of the existing ballpark would be torn down, while the only things untouched by the renovation would be the playing field, parking lots, lower bowl and home clubhouse. A new suite level would be built where the current suites and upper deck are located. A wraparound concourse will ring the playing field, and total capacity (with standing room) would be around 8,500.
