New for 2012: The Loudoun Hounds

Loudoun HoundsThe name of the new independent Atlantic League team in Loudoun County, Virginia, has a name and a logo: The Loudoun Hounds.

The team name and logo reflects the equestrian traditions intrinsic in the history of Loudoun County and the wider region.

“Today, I am proud to unleash the Hounds,” announced Bob Farren, President and CEO of VIP Baseball. “The Hounds will quickly become the heart and soul of the region, and we are set to establish rivalries with great teams like the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, the York Revolution and all of the Atlantic League in 2012.”

The Hounds’ name was one of three candidates culled from nearly one thousand original submissions, and received over 60 percent of the public’s vote in the Name Your Team contest. Many fans submitted variations on “Hounds” during the contest, and VIP randomly selected 9-year-old Sterling resident Andrew Thede as the contest’s winner. At the event, Andrew was rewarded with two season tickets for 2012. Further, he will get to present the Hounds’ lineup card at home plate before a 2012 home ballgame.

The Hounds will play their home games at a new 5,500-seat ballpark being built at Kincora Village, located at the intersection of Routes 28 and 7 in Loudoun County.

“Today is the next step in this amazing nine-year journey to bring professional baseball to Loudoun County and Northern Virginia,” concluded Farren. “The excitement building in the area for the unleashing of the Hounds has been phenomenal and awe-inspiring from my perspective. The Hounds will be a quality, professional organization that will make the community proud.”
