Minor League Baseball’s Baseball Internet Rights Company (BIRCO) announced today that Chattanooga Lookouts President Frank Burke has been elected Chairman of its 10-member Board of Directors. BIRCO holds the digital rights of its member Minor League Baseball clubs and leagues.
Minor League Baseball’s Baseball Internet Rights Company (BIRCO) announced today that Chattanooga Lookouts President Frank Burke has been elected Chairman of its 10-member Board of Directors. BIRCO holds the digital rights of its member Minor League Baseball clubs and leagues.
Joining Burke (Southern League) on the BIRCO Board are fellow Minor League Baseball Board of Trustees (BOT) members Sam Bernabe, Mike Tamburro (International League), Tom Volpe (California League) and Dave Walker (Midwest League). Bernabe, the President and General Manager of the Pacific Coast League Iowa Cubs, is currently the Chairman of the BOT.
Four others were selected to serve as BIRCO Board members representing the various classifications within Minor League Baseball: Reid Ryan (Round Rock), Triple-A; Art Matin (Erie), Double-A; Craig Brown (Greenville), Single-A; Chuck Greenberg (State College), Short-A/Rookie.
Greenberg also serves as a member of the Minor League Baseball BOT as the Carolina League representative.
The final member of the BIRCO Board is Minor League Baseball Executive Director of Branded Properties Brian Earle, who will serve in an advisory, non-voting capacity. Alan Stein of the Omaha Royals and Lexington Legends was appointed to serve the BIRCO Board in an advisory role.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Minor League Baseball, BIRCO’s goals are to provide innovation, value and revenue to its member clubs and leagues; to insure that local identities are maintained; and to create and develop the best interactive web sites in all of sports.
The BIRCO Board will select the members of its Content, Technology, Service and Advertising/Tickets/Merchandising (ATM) Committees from among all participating clubs and leagues at a later date.
